To configure Quit CSM, open the Quit CSM Settings control panel by double-clicking its icon, by selecting Quit CSM Settings in the Control Panels submenu of the Apple menu or by choosing the Applications, Menus or Preferences commands in the Quit menu.
The Quit CSM Settings control panel has three panes: Applications, Menus and Preferences.
Applications Pane
 
To exclude or include applications and automatically hide applications on context switch, choose the Applications command in the Quit menu...
 
... and open the Applications pane of the Quit CSM Settings control panel.
 
• Excluded Applications
This section of the Applications pane lists the excluded applications (see Not Quitting an Application: Excluding Applications in the Quitting Applications chapter) and lets you exclude and include applications whether they are running or not.
To exclude an application click the Exclude button and choose it using the Exclude Application dialog box:
 
To include one or more excluded applications select them in the list and click the Include button.
Applications can also be excluded and included directly from the Control Strip provided they are running and active by choosing the Exclude & Include command in the Quit menu (see Not Quitting an Application: Excluding Applications in the Quitting Applications chapter).
• Application Switch
The Hide front application before switch option in the Application Switch section of the Applications pane lets you automatically hide applications on context switch (requires Mac OS 8.0 or higher).
Check this option, if you want that whenever you switch to a different application, the front application is hidden before the application you are switching to is activated.
If you often need to check and uncheck the Hide front application before switch option, you can add it to the Quit menu by setting the corresponding option in the Quit CSM Settings control panel's Menus pane (see Menus Pane).
Menus Pane
 
To configure the Quit and advanced Quit menus, choose the Menus command in the Quit menu...
 
... and open the Menus pane of the Quit CSM Settings control panel.
 
• Application sizes
Check this option, to show application sizes in the Quit and advanced Quit menus. This option is also available in the Memory menu (see Memory Menu in the Quit CSM Menus chapter).
• Application icons
Check this option, to show application icons in the Quit and advanced Quit menus.
 
• Exclude & Include command
Check this option, to add the Exclude & Include command to the Quit menu.
Applications can in any case be excluded and included from the Applications pane of the Quit CSM Settings control panel (see Applications Pane).
 
• Hide Others & Show All commands
Check this option, to add the Hide Others and Show All commands to the Quit menu. The Hide Others and Show All commands are in any case available in the Application menu.
• Hide Front Application before Switch option
Check this option, to add the Hide Front Application before Switch option to the Quit menu (requires Mac OS 8.0 or higher).
The Hide front application before switch option is in any case available in the Applications pane of the Quit CSM Settings control panel (see Applications Pane).
 
• Sleep, Restart & Shut Down commands
Check this option, to add the Sleep, Restart and Shut Down commands to the Quit menu (the Sleep command is added provided your computer can be set in sleep mode).
The Sleep, Restart and Shut Down commands are in any case available in the Finder's Special menu.
 
Preferences Pane
 
To set Quit CSM's display options and enable a show & hide Control Strip hot spot, choose the Preferences command in the Quit menu...
 
... and open the Preferences pane of the Quit CSM Settings control panel.
 
• Display Options
This section of the Preferences pane lets you configure Quit CSM's display in the Control Strip.
Check the Show icon option, if you want to show Quit CSM's icon. The icon can't be hidden when the memory bar isn't visible.
Check the Show memory bar option, if you want to show the memory bar. The memory bar can display either the largest unused block or the memory in use. More than 20 different memory bar colors are available.
The Show Memory Bar, Display Largest Unused Block and Display Memory in Use options are also available in the Memory menu (see Memory Menu in the Quit CSM Menus chapter). The memory bar color can also be selected using the Color menu (see Color Menu in the Quit CSM Menus chapter).
 
• Show & Hide Control Strip
This section of the Preferences pane lets you define and enable a show & hide Control Strip hot spot (not available if ACTION GoMac is used as module host).
The hot spot can be any of the four screen corners and its default size is 3x3 pixels. If you use a screen wrap extension or a high screen resolution, you can increase the hot spot size to 10x1O pixels by checking the Use large hot spot option. To show and hide the Control Strip, click the hot spot.
Quit CSM Settings Menus
 
When the Quit CSM Settings control panel is the active application, the Apple menu provides you with information about Quit CSM and lets you register your copy of Quit CSM.
 
• About Quit CSM...
Brings up the About Quit CSM dialog box providing you with general information about Quit CSM (version number, shareware fees), contact information and a Register Online button.
• Register Quit CSM...
Brings up the Register Quit CSM dialog box. To register your Quit CSM copy, type in both your serial number and your user name exactly as they appear in the MaBaSoft Registration letter and click Register.
The Quit CSM Settings control panel's File menu lets you quit the control panel.
 
• Close
Closes the main window and quits the Quit CSM Settings control panel.
• Quit
Quits the Quit CSM Settings control panel.
The Quit CSM Settings control panel's Edit menu lets you work with edit text fields and select list items.
 
• Cut
Copies the selected text into the clipboard and removes it from the active edit text field.
• Copy
Copies the selected text into the clipboard.
• Cut
Places the clipboard content at the location of the insertion point (or in place of the current selection) in the active edit text field.
• Clear
Removes the selected text from the active edit text field without copying it into the clipboard.
• Select All
Selects all the text in the active edit text field or all items in the active list.
